Fitness trainer George Bolzoni understands that not everyone can afford a fancy gym membership. Thankfully, as the weather warms up it’s easier for more people to get active without breaking the bank. He highlights some of his favorite ways to stay active on a budget below.
- Go on a walk. The leaves have finally turned green and summer is officially here, which means what better way to take advantage of this beautiful weather than by spending your time outdoors? Vigorous walking is a great way to build your cardiovascular endurance while remaining low impact for people who are worried about their joint health.
- Go to the beach. No, not for tanning…although, you could do that too. But rather, go swimming! Swimming is a great option to get your heart pumping and support your joint health. For people with mobility issues, having buoyancy in the water is a great way to strengthen your muscles without worrying about slipping and falling.
- Play catch. If you have children on school break this summer, what better way to enjoy the outdoors than to toss a ball back and forth. Plus, it’ll teach them and you some hand-eye coordination!
Working on your fitness doesn’t have to be expensive. With some creativity and objects lying around the house, you can give yourself and your family a great workout at no cost to you. Next time you visit your local park or beach, see if it offers an outdoor gym or free fitness classes. Get familiar with the offerings in your area so that you can easily schedule time in your day to utilize it. Soon enough you’ll look back on this summer as your most active one yet!
